Under-19 ODI series: Bangladesh extend lead 3-1 against South Africa

Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team took a comfortable 3-1 lead in the seven-match Youth ODI series beating South Africa Under-19 team by 26 runs in the 4th match at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.
Earlier, Bangladesh beat the visitors by 5 wickets and 140 runs respectively in first two matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and conceded a narrow 2-run defeat in the 3rd match at SKICS in Cox’s Bazar.
The Young Tigers needs just a win to clinch series in the remaining three Youth ODIs to be held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on April 18, 21 and 23. All matches will start at 9 am.
Favoured by coin in the day’s match, Bangladesh batted first and scored 206 runs for all in stipulated 50 overs.
Bangladesh made a good start scoring 72 runs in 17.5 overs in the opening stand by Saif Hasan and Pinak Ghosh, before Saif Hasan dismissing for 41 runs off 64 balls featuring with four fours and one six.
Another opener Pinak Ghosh scored 42 runs off 57 balls with three fours and one six, leaving team total 103 for 2 in 23.3 overs,
Skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanta stayed in the crease confidently to score
the team highest 45 runs off 62 balls with three fours.
Later, he also grabbed two wickets for 19 runs in 7 overs and was adjudged man of the match,
Apart from Nazmul 45, Mossabbek Hossain (22), Nehaduzzaman (18) and Saifuddin (10) were the other double digit scorers for the home side.
Brandon Glover grabbed three wickets for 47 runs and Dean Foxcroft captured two wickets for 29 runs, both bowled 10 overs each.
Ziyaad Abraham and Abdu Galiem took one wicket each for 32 and 44 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 207 runs, the Proteas U-19 side opened their innings and folded their innings at 180 for 9 in 50 overs, spurred by the number three Peter Willem’s 80 runs off 135 balls with five fours and one six.
Rivaldo Moonsamy scored 20 runs off 19 balls with two fours while Lesego Senokwane and skipper Tony De Zorzi added 19 runs each.
Sean Andre (not out 14) and Abdu Galiem (11) were the other notable contributors for the visitors.
Apart from Nazmul Hossain two wicket haul, Saifuddin and Mossabbek Hossain captured two wickets each for 7 and 19 runs respectively.
Sanjit Saha and Nehaduzzaman took one wicket apiece for 32 and 43 runs respectlvely.
