Bangladesh eve team reach in semis in ICC World T20 qualifiers

A five-wicket haul by KhadijaTul Kubra steered Bangladesh women’s cricket team to emerge group A champions to reach semifinals spot in the ICC World T20 qualifiers beating Papua New Guinea (PNG) women’s cricket team by 41 runs in their third and final group A qualifying round match held on Tuesday at the Asian Institute of Technology ground in Bangkok, Thailand.
Chasing a winning target of 101 runs set by Bangladesh eve team, PNG found the chase very stiff in the face of tight bowling attacks and finally dismissed at a paltry total of 59 in 19.5 overs.
Apart from Veru Frank (13 n.o) and Tanya Ruma (12) neither any PNG batsman failed to reach the double digit. Kubra caused the major damage for PNG picking up five wickets for 11 runs.
She was well supported by Rumana Ahmed who bagged three wickets giving away 13 runs. She was later named the player of the match.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted a decent total of 100 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs, after they were forced to field first by PNG.
Middle order batsman Farjana Haque top scored with 28 runs followed by Nigar Sultana (14) and Ritu Moni (13n.o).
Kari Seura was most economical bowler for PNG taking two wickets conceding only two runs.
Earlier, the Tigress won against Thailand and Scotland in the group phase engagements.
