Reigning champions Bangladesh Hockey team emerged the champions of the AHF Cup Hockey Tournament after beating Oman Hockey team by 5-4 goals in the tie-breaker of the final at Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia on Sunday. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh confirmed their berth in Asia Cup Hockey, the most prestigious hockey tournament of Asia. India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Pakistan will directly play in the Asia Cup Hockey. The stipulated sixty-minute match ended in a 1-1 draw. Sohanur Rahman of Bangladesh put his team ahead in the 14th minute of the first quarter of the play.
Al Fahad of Oman leveled the margin in the 4th minute of the second quarter.
Bangladesh beat Kazakhstan in the semi-final.
Earlier, Bangladesh defeated Oman by 3-2 goals in their last Group-B match at the same venue on March 17.
Bangladesh made an auspicious start thrashing Indonesia by 7-2 goals in their first match at the same venue on March 11.
The red-and-green outfit blanked Singapore by six goals to nil in their second Group-B match at the same venue on March 14.
Bangladesh defeated Iran by 6-2 goals in their third Group-B match at the same venue on March 15.
