Bangladesh emerge champions in ISSF Archery

Bangladesh Archers made the nation proud as they emerged champions in the 1st Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) International Archery Championship that concluded on Monday at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
Bangladesh dominate the medal tally as they secured highest number of nine medals including six gold, one silver and two bronze.
In the women’s singles recurve even, Hira Moni clinched the gold medal beating her Azerbaijan Ramojanoa by 6-4 set, while in the team event Bangladesh (Shamoly Roy, Beauty Akter and Radia Akter Shapla) beat Nepal archery team 6-2 set.
In the men’s team event, Bangladesh archery team (Rumanaj Sana, Sanowar Hossain and Tamimimul Islam) beat Bhutan archery team by 6-2 set while in the mixed doubles Rumana Sana and Beauty Roy of Bangladesh defeated their Bhutan rivals Kinty Ti Saring and Karmo by 6-2 set.
Besides, men’s singles recurve event, Fayes Alotaibi of Saudi Arabia beat Nima Wangdi of Bhutan by 6-4 set.
In the compound men’s doubles events, Bangladesh men’s team comprising Abul Kasem, Nazmul Huda and Milon Mollah beat their Malaysian rivals by 214-207 scores in the men’s team event for the gold.
In the compound mixed team event Abul Kasem Mamun and Susmita Bonik defeated their Iraqi counterparts Ashak and Fatimah Al Mashadai by 149-141 scores.
Besides, in the men’s compound singles event, Malaysian archer Phirdaous Bin Esa edged past her compatriot Nik Ahmed Denial Bin Mohammad Kamruzzaman by 141-140 scores.
Deputy Minister Arif Khan Joy was the chief guest on the closing day and distributed the prizes among the winners.
