Bangladesh emerged the champions of the Islami Bank Asian Games Hockey Qualifying Tournament when they crushed Oman by 6-1 goals in the final at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Bangladesh took the first position in the hockey meet while Oman earned the second spot in the hockey competition. Both teams qualified for the Asian Games Hockey Competition.
Mamunur Rahman Chayan put his team ahead utilizing a penalty corner in the 13th minute of the play.
Rajab Basim Khatar of Oman equalized the margin by a field goal in the 24th minute of the game.
After six minutes Hasan Junaer Niloy of Bangladesh doubled the margin using a square pass of his teammate Sheikh Md Nannu.
Pushkor Khisa Mimo made it 3-1 by a field goal in the 45th minute of the match.
Jubaer Hasan Niloy increased the tally into 4-1 capitalizing a pass of his teammate Niloy in the65th minute of the clash.
After four minutes Pushkor Khisa Mimo made it 5-1 after dodged past Oman goalie and pushed the ball into the blank net.
Sheikh Md Nannu put the last nail into Oman’s coffin by a field goal just one minute before the long whistle.
Pushkor Khisa Mimo was adjudged the Man of the Match.
After the final match President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, Acting Chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited Engineer Mostafa Anwar, Chairman of ATN Bangla Mahfuzur Rahman distributed the prizes among the winners.
