Bangladesh bounced back in eight-nation Hockey World League Round 2 with 5-1 goal victory against visiting Fiji in their 2nd Pool A match at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Bangladesh captain Rashel Mahmud Jimmy and penalty corner specialist Mamunur Rahman Chayan struck two goals each while Ashraful Islam netted one for the victory.
Fiji’s captain Leevan Dutta scored one goal to reduce the loss margin.
In the day’s play, Chayan struck a penalty corner goal in the 26th minute to put Bangladesh ahead, 1-0.
Fiji’s captain Leevan Dutta restored the parity scoring a penalty corner goal in the 32nd minute, 1-1.
Bangladesh back again in the match with Jimmy’s field goal in 37th minute, 2-1.
Jimmy struck another field goal in the 41st minute to extend the lead, 3-1.
Chayan netted another penalty corner goal for his 2nd one in the 51st minute, 4-1.
Ashraful Islam scored a penalty corner goal as the 5th one for Bangladesh, 5-1.
Bangladesh started their tournament campaign on Saturday with a 0-3 loss against Malaysia.
In their 3rd and last Pool match Bangladesh will face Oman at the same venue on Monday.
