World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten will join with Bangladesh cricketers in a virtual meeting today in a bid to share his experience and tips.
During this pandemic time, the crickets have been in touch with the supporting staffs and others with virtual meeting and Kirsten, the former South African opener who coached India to win the World Cup trophy in 2011, will be the new face.
“He will have a meeting with cricketers tomorrow,” BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan told the BSS here on Tuesday.
“Normally they (cricketers) have been in touch with coaches through virtual meeting. So we thought it would be good to invite Kirsten in the meeting. We think players will be immensely benefited had they take the idea and tips from Kirsten, because you know he has huge experience under his belt.”
Kirsten however is known face here as he was appointed by Bangladesh as a consultant and had overseen the selection of Steve Rhodes as head coach in 2018.
Some Bangladesh cricketers had already begun individual training sessions at BCB’s facilities across the country amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
A total of 14 players had already joined the session and it is highly likely that some more players will join when the training session restarted on August 8.
