Bangladesh conceded a 0-3 defeat against Japan in the 2nd quarterfinal of the 8th Junior Asia Cup (Men) Hockey in Kuantan city, Malaysia on Thursday.
The winners dominated the first half by 1-0.
Yamada Shota scored two goals within a span of a minute. Yamada scored his first one by a penalty stroke in the 68th and scored a field goal within the same minute.
Ochiai Hiromasa fired the net first for the winners by a field goal in the 21st minute of the match.
With this result, Bangladesh lost a golden opportunity to qualify for the World Youth Hockey, to be held in India in 2016.
Bangladesh will face Oman in the next match on Saturday (November 21) to secure a place in-between 5th to 8th.
In the day’s 1st quarterfinal, India crushed Oman by 9-0 goals at the same venue.
Bangladesh reached in the quarterfinal with the 2nd slot in pool-B bagging nine points from three matches with two wins and one loss.
In the group stage, Bangladesh beat favourite South Korea by 2-0 goals in the 3rd match on Tuesday followed by a 5-4 victory against Oman on Sunday.
Bangladesh started their campaign with a 1-3 loss against Pakistan in the 1st match on Saturday.
However, Japan was placed 3rd in the pool-A securing four points from three matches with one win, one draw and one loss.
