Bangladeshi chess team returned home last afternoon from Kathmandu after participating the Asian Zonal 3.2 Chess Championships Open and Women qualifying events of World Cup Chess and World Women Chess Championship.
K M Shahidullah, vice president of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) and Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim general secretary of BCF received the chess team at the Hazrat Shahjajal International Airport.
In the championship, Bangladeshi players dominated both sections open and women’s in the In Open Section Bangladeshi players achieved top three place including championship.
In women section Bangladeshi players achieved top 5 positions including championship. GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib became unbeaten champion in the open section.
In women’s section, WIM Rani Hamid emerged champion while WFM Nazrana Khan Eva achieved a 9 round International Woman Master norm.
Besides, Samiha Sharmin Shimmi achieved Woman Candidate Master title from this event.
Bangladeshi players received all medals gold, silver and bronze of the event.
