Bangladesh chess team loss 4th round in Chess Olympiad

Bangladesh open chess lost to former olympiad champion Ukraine by 1-3 points in the 4th round games of 41st World Chess Olympiad’s open section now being held in Tromso, Norway.
In the 4th round games held on Tuesday, in open section 55 seeded Bangladesh open team lost against 9 seeded Ukraine’s team. GM Ziaur Rahman (Rating-2523) split points with former world runner-up GM Vassily Ivanchuk (Rating-2744) while GM Abdullah Al Rakib (Rating-2522) drew with former world chess champion GM Ruslan Ponomariov (Rating-2717) of Ukraine.
GM Enamul Hossain Razib lost to GM Pavel Eljanov (Rating-2723) while Niaz Murshed (Rating-2453) lost to GM Alexander Moiseenko (Rating-2707) of Ukraine.
Bangladesh open team earned 5 match points and 9 game points after 4th round games.
In the women’s section, Bangladesh eve team lost to Switzerland by 3.5-0.5 points in 4th round games.
WIM Shamima Akter Liza (Rating-2147) lost to WIM Seps Monika (Rating-2236), WFM Nazrana Khan (Rating-2001) lost to WGM Hund Barbara (Rating-2153) and WIM Rani Hamid (Rating-1995) lost to WIM Heinatz Gundula (Rating-2169). Only Sharmin Sultana Shirin (Rating-1984) drew with WFM Stoeri Laura (Rating-2123) of Ukraine.
