Bangladesh Vovinam team emerged as the champions of the 1st Sheikh Kamal South Asian (SA) Vovinam Championship at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Saturday. Bangladesh bagged 18 gold medals, 16 silver medals and six bronze medals.
India became runners-up collecting nine gold medals, seven silver medals and three bronze medals. Nepal captured one bronze medal.
After the competition, Vice-Chancellor of Khawaja Mainuddin Chishti University Mahruf Mirza distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Vice-President of World Vovinam Federation Bishnu Sahai and President of Bangladesh Vovinam Association Dilder Hasan Dilu were present at the time.
