Bangladesh hockey team dump all of their frustrations when they drubbed Sri Lanka by 9-0 goals to ensure their battle for the fifth place in the World Hockey League round 2 held on Saturday at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city.
The boys in red and green will now play against Ghana in the fifth place-deciding match scheduled to be held today (Sunday) at 11.30 am at the same venue.
Bangladesh meant business as they took early lead in the very first minute as Chayan converted a penalty corner from the close range giving no chance to Sri Lankan custodian Tusith Ratnasiri.
Forward Milon Hossain doubled the lead with an angular powerful hit in the 11th minute. Chayan scored his second and third for the team in the 24th minute to established the full control of his team over Sri Lanka.
In the third quarter Bangladesh got only one goal. Milon scored the goal in the 32nd minute. In the last quarter, Bangladesh scored the remaining five goals.
Arshad struck twice while Jimmy, Koushik and Milon netted one goal each for Bangladesh.
