Bangladesh u-19 team was held to a 1-1 goal draw by Bhutan U-19 team in their second Group A match of AFC U-19 Championship 2016 Qualifiers held on Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Bhutan took lead early in the 6th minute through their defender Sonam Tobgay. Midfielder Nima Wangon curved a low corner in the box and Sonam placed the ball into the net from the goal mouth melee (1-0).
Bangladesh missed the real scoring chance in the 17th minute when forward Mannaf Rabbi found the ball at the middle of the box after a long throw of Bishwanath Ghosh, but Rabbi’s shot was cleared by Bhutan’s captain Choki Wangchuk from the goal line.
Bangladesh again came close to scoring in the 32nd minute when Ibrahim’s shot on a cutback of Mannaf Rabbi was punched to safety by Bhutanese custodian Gyal Tshen Zangpo.
Bangladesh was unfortunate again in the 44th minute and this time defender Tutul Hosain Badsha, who’s well-judge shot from the vantage position sailed harmlessly over the crosspiece.
After the resumption, Rohit Sarker Saw his shot on a cutback of Ibrahim was saved by Bhutan goalie Gyal Tshen Zangpo in the 58th minute.
Bangladesh finally restored the parity in the 75th minute. Ibrahim curved a free kick in the box and skipper Masuk Mia Zoni headed the ball into the far post (1-1).
Bangladesh will play their next match against Uzbekistan on Tuesday (October 6) at the same venue.
