Bangladesh Under-18 Football team became runners-up in the SAFF Under-18 Championship losing to India Under-18 Football team by 2-1 goals in the final at APF Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal on Sunday. India emerged as the champions in the football meet.
Bikram of India gave his team early lead by scoring a goal in the second minute of the play.
Yasin Arafat of Bangladesh leveled the margin by a left-footer angular shot in the 40th minute of the clash.
Earlier, players of Bangladesh and India were engaged in collision in the 21st minute of the play. Thus, Hridoy of Bangladesh and Gurkirat Singh of India were showed red card for their unplayable attitude.
After scoring the goal, Yasin Arafat covered his face with jerseys to celebrate his goal. Thus Arafat was showed red card for his unplayable attitude and Bangladesh became nine-man team.
The youngsters of Bangladesh resisted the youth team of India for ninety minutes. But Robi Bahadur Rana of India suddenly scored by a forceful right-footer in the injury time of the match.
Thus, India clinched the 3rd SAFF Under-18 Championship.
Earlier, Nepal emerged as the champions of the SAFF Under-18 Championship in 2015. India finished runners-up in that year’s meet.
Nepal also became champions in the SAFF Under-18 Championship in 2017. Bangladesh emerged as the runners-up in that year’s competition.
But this year India earned the championship title. Thus Bangladesh were deprived to clinch the much-awaited title.
