Bangladesh made a good start in the 14-nation pre-qualifying round of the Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone beating Lebanon 3-0 in their Group D match that began in the Malaysian city of Kuching on Wednesday.
Kawser Ali of Bangladesh beat his Lebanese rival 6-3, 6-4 games in the first singles. Rubel Hossain of Bangladesh beat his opponent 6-3, 2-6- 6-3 games in the 2nd singles while Bangladeshi pair Kawser Ali and Mohammad Ishtiaq beat their Lebanese rivals by 4-6.6-4, 4-3 (retd) games in the doubles.
In the day’s other Group D match, Pakistan beat Turkmenistan also by 3-0.
Bangladesh was put in Group D of the 14-nation Junior Davis Cup along with Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Lebanon.
Earlier, Bangladesh team comprising three players — Rubel Hossain, Kawser Ali and Mohammad Ishtiaq — and chief coach cum captain Mozahidul Haque Monti left the capital for Malaysia on Sunday night to compete in the Junior Davis Cup pre-qualifiers, approved by International Tennis Federation and organised by Malayisa Lawn Tennis Association.
