Bangladesh batting coach stressed for consistency

Bangladesh whitewashed visiting Zimbabwe in the three match one day international series winning the third and last ODI by 7 wickets at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
As the top order batting clicked to the sublime in absence of premier performers Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh’s batting consultant Neil McKenzie said it is important to maintain the consistency while being pleased with the team’s performance.
“I would like to see similar consistency. Training hard and prepare for specific conditions and bowlers,” McKenzie said.
McKenzi also pointed out to the level of competition in the team for grabbing a place saying, “It is all about competitions for places. It would make selection a little bit tricky. You have to select what’s best for the team, and you have to bind. The squad members, who haven’t played, have been phenomenal off the field, in terms of their energy level.”
“When you have a lot of competition for places, you have to be consistent.
It is no use getting a hundred and then nought, nought, five, seven. If you just look outside the squad and the guys who didn’t get to bat today, just look at how much batting you got. There’s a lot of batting coming through. There are options with the ball,” he added.
Opener Imrul Kayes has been among bulk of runs in the series scoring two centuries and a 90 in the three ODIs.
Wicket keeper batsman Litton Kumar Das after striking a hundred in the Asia Cup 2018 final against India, was also among handy outcomes against Zimbabwe; he scored 83 runs in the second game.

Last but not the least, Soumya Sarkar who was a sudden hit of the selectors for the final appearance, hammered an entertaining 92 ball 117 in the third match.
