Election of Bangladesh Bar Council, a licensing and regulatory body for legal practitioners in the country, is scheduled to be held on May 14.
The voting will take place from 10am to 5 pm on that day in polling centers in Supreme Court Bar building, in all the district civil courts and 12 upazila-level civil courts simultaneously.
Aspiring candidates can buy and submit nomination papers from April 3 to 8 and the papers will be sorted out on April 15. The last date for withdrawing candidacy is April 18.
A three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Syed Amirul Islam, has already been formed to hear objections related to polling Bangladesh Bar Council consists of 15 members of whom the attorney general is one and is the chairman ex-officio.
Others are elected by advocates for a term of three years from amongst themselves, of whom seven from general seats and seven from seven zonal or group seats.
