Bangladesh A team were trailing by 147 runs with eight wickets remaining against hosts Indian A team after the 2nd day of the three-day first class cricket match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.
The second string Indian team resumed the first innings with overnight total of 161 for 1 in 33 overs and declared the innings at 411 for 5 in 86.1 overs to take a comfortable 183-run first innings lead on the 2nd day (Monday).
Skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who was in batting on 116, completed his innings scoring 150 runs off 146 deliveries featuring 16 fours and three sixes while
another night watch batsman SS Iyer (6) scored 55-ball 38 runs including six boundaries.
Besides, Vijoy Shankar contributed a polished 86 runs off 110 balls hitting four fours and fours sixes, Karun Nair made 97-ball 71 runs with the help of 12 boundaries and NV Ojha scored an uneaten 25 runs off 32 balls with one four and one six, apart from opener Abhinav Mukund’s 34 runs.
Jubair Hossain grabbed two Indian wickets for 76 runs while Nasir Hossain, Shuvagoto Hom and Saqlain Sajib took one wicket apiece.
Replying to Indian mammoth first innings total of 411 runs, Bangladesh A team, having 228 runs in the first innings, opened the 2nd innings on Monday afternoon and scored 36 for 2 in 11 overs when bails were drawn for the 2nd day (Monday).
Like the first innings, Bangladesh A team made a frustrating start losing two quick wickets of Anamul Haque (0), and Soumya Sarker (19) for 21 runs in 6.2 overs, but skipper Mominul Haque pairing with two down Liton Das trying to settle down in the wickets, adding 15 runs in the 3rd wicket stand.
Mominul and Liton were in the crease with 9 and 7 runs respectively.
IC Pandey and Jayant Jadav took one wicket each.
Earlier on the first day (Sunday), despite an unconquered 122 runs by Sabbir Rahman, touring Bangladesh A team were all out for 228 runs in 52.4 overs in the first innings against Indian A team due to their irresponsible batting.
Sent in to bat first, the second string Bangladesh team faced an initial batting jolt losing top fours wickets — opener Soumya Sarker (0), skipper Mominul Haque (2), Anamul Haque Bijoy (0) and Liton Das (0) — for just six runs in 5.3 overs within 15 minutes of the play.
All rounder Sabbir Rahman, who came to bat in number five, repaired the early damage pairing with another national all rounder Nasir Hossain, contributing 44 runs in the 5th wicket stand.
Six Bangladeshi batsmen — Soumya, Anamul, Liton, Shafiul, Rubel and Jubair — went back to the pavilion with duck, participating in a competition of throwing wickets.
Jayant Jadav and Varon Aaron took four wickets each conceding 28 and 45 runs respectively.
Bangladesh A team lost their first three-day first class match against Ranji Trophy Champions Karnataka Cricket Association team by four wickets in Mysore last week.
