Bangladesh A lose to Zimbabwe A in first one-dayer

Hosts Bangladesh A team lost to touring Zimbabwe A team by 17 runs in the first one-dayer at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Sunday.
Chasing Zimbabwe’s fighting total of 253 for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs, Bangladesh A were bowled out for 236 in 49.3 overs.
Bangladesh made a poor start as they lost their early three wickets for 36 runs.
Later, Soumya Sarker and Naeem Islam repaired the damage adding together 63 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Soumya Sarker was caught by Cutchheb Mosuka off Timycen Maruma when Bangladesh’s score was 99 runs for the loss of four wickets.
After dismissal of Soumya Sarker, Naeem Islam and Mosaddek Hossain contributed 56 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Naeem Islam was trapped leg before wicket by Tafadzwa Kamungozi when the team’s total was 155 for the loss five wickets.
Naeem Islam was the top scorer of Bangladesh. He notched up a brilliant 66 from 85 balls with five shots through the ropes.
After departure of Naeem Islam, Mosaddek Hossain and Elias Sunny built another notable partnership. They put on together 70 runs in the seventh wicket stand before Elias Sunny was trapped leg before wicket by Tawanda Mupariwa when the hosts total was 227 for the loss of seven wickets.
Soumya Sarker made a remarkable 56 off 80 balls including five fours and a six while Mosaddek Hossain scored a notable 49 from 70 balls amid four fours.
Elias Sunny hit a quick-fire 42. He cracked five fours and a six in his 30-ball knock.
Tafadzwa Kamungozi captured four wickets instead of 24 runs while Tawanda Mupariwa grabbed three wickets at the cost of 41 runs and Cutchbeb Mosuka bagged a pair of wickets in the space of 26 runs.
Besides, Timysen Maruma took one wicket for two runs.
Earlier, Regis Chakabva hit a marvelous 132. His 144-ball innings was studded with 13 fours and three sixes while Vusimuzi Sibanda made a fine 52 from 67 balls including four fours and a sixer.
Opener Brian Chari added 35 runs to the Zimbabwe total.
Zuabair Hossain and Mominul Haque bagged a couple of wickets each conceding 53 and 47 runs respectively.
Besides, Mosaddek Hossain and Shohid took one wicket each.
Regis Chakabva of Zimbabwe A team was adjudged the Man of the Match.
