Bangla Tribune emerged as the champions in the Step-BSJC Media Cup Cricket Tournament defeating Channel i by four wickets in the final at the Outer Stadium, which is adjacent to the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Batting first Channel I scored 81 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated six overs.
In reply, Bangla Tribune romped home making 43 for the loss of one wicket when they had five balls to spare.
Abul of Bangla Tribune top-scored with 43 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Earlier, Sajib Das of Channel i made 37, while his teammate Rahul Ray scored 24 runs.
Bangla Tribune, the champions of the tournament was awarded Tk thirty thousand, while Channel i, the runners-up of the meet got Tk twenty thousand.
Sajib Das of Channel i was adjudged the Man of the Tournament.
After the final match, Director of BCB Mahbub Anam distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest, while former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Khaled Masud Pilot, former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Mohammad Ashraful, Managing Director of Step Footwear Md Shamim Kabir, President of Bangladesh Sports Journalists Community (BSJC) Asif Iqbal, General Secretary of BSJC Sakir Ruben, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Masud Parvez were present at the time.
A total of 24 media houses took part in the tournament.
