Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a close aide of Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, executed second-in-command of banned militant outfit Jama’at-ul Mujahideen
Bangladesh (JMB), from Mahishbagan area of the city on Monday.
The arrested was identified as Abdul Majid Baltu alias Killer Baltu, 35, son of Jaban Ali of Shenopara in Bagmara upazila of the district.
Being tipped off, a team of Militant Prevention Cell of the elite force conducted a drive in the area at around
12:45pm and arrested Majid, said RAB-5 media cell.
Before joining JMB in 2004, Majid had been an outlawed party member, RAB sources said, adding that he was wanted in several cases filed with Bagmara Police Station. “Majid had been reorganising members of the outlawed outfit in the locality for the last few days.”
