Bangla Academy Literary Award-2014 was announced in seven out of ten categories on Thursday, ahead of Ekushey Book Fair beginning tomorrow.
The winners are- Poet Shihab Sarkar (Poetry), Zakir Talukdar (Fiction), Professor Shantanu Kaisar (Essay), Professor Bhuiyan Iqbal (Research), Professor Abu Muhammad Delowar Hossain (Liberation War Literature), Mainus Sultan (Travelogue) and (Juvenile Literature).
No awardees were announced for three categories — translation works, drama and science, technology and environment due to lack of significant work under these genres.
A five-member jury headed by Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam made the selection. Other members of the jury were Editor Abul Hasnat of literary magazine, Kali-Kolom, Professor Syed Manjurul Islam, Poet Asad Chowdhury and Professor Hayat Mahmud.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would hand over the awards to the nominees on February 1, 2015 at the inaugural ceremony of the “Amar Ekushey Book Fair and Second International Literary Conference-2015?.
Each recipient will receive a cheque for Taka one lakh, a crest and a certificate.
