Thailand’s private boutique airline Bangkok Airways that was launched in 1968 has started operating air services between Dhaka and Bangkok from the year 2011, after 43 years of its first flight operation domestically and regionally. The airline operates Bangkok-Dhaka-Bangkok service once everyday with an Airbus having a configuration of 12 Business Class seats and 108 Economy Class seats achieving 70 to 75 per cent load factor.
At the moment, Bangkok Airways has 29 aircraft and a workforce of around 3,000 employees with aircraft/employee ratio being a little more than 1: 100, which is considered to be very good in respect of profitability of an airline.
“Bangkok Airways’ specialty is that it has as many as three airports of its own in Bangkok-the capital city of Thailand,” said M. Mohijur Rahman (Javed), Sales Manager of Air Galaxy, Bangkok Airways’ GSA in Dhaka while talking to this correspondent in the morning on August 24 (Monday) last.
Its other specialty is that it has special free Blue Ribbon Business Class lounge and free boutique Economy Class passengers lounge in Bangkok, Phuket and some other airports in Thailand, he added. At the moment, Bangkok Airways operates air services on eleven domestic and 13 international destinations, he added.
