Bangamata Asian Int’l Volleyball begins today

The first Bangamata Asian Senior Women’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship will begin today at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.
National Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to inaugurate the six-day meet as the chief guest.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in one of the opening day’s fixture of the championship. This is the first time for Bangladesh women’s volleyball team to take part in the international meet.
Bangladesh will play their remaining matches against the Maldives, Nepal and Kyrgyzstan on November 10, 12 and 13 respectively.
The top two teams will lock horn in the final scheduled to be held on November 14 at 3 pm following the third-place deciding encounter at 1 pm.
Apart from host Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, the Maldives and Kyrgyzstan will compete in the six-day meet, organised by BVF.
