Bangladesh reported 4,008 new Covid-19 patients in span of 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases to 98,489.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said it on Wednesday.
The DGHS said also that 43 more people died from the virus infection, taking the death toll to 1,305 in the country.
Additional Director General of DGHS, Professor Dr Nasima Sultana said it in a regular press briefing in Dhaka.
She said that17,527 samples were tested in 61 laboratories across the country the last 24 hours.
A sharp rise of death and infections are found in recent weeks.
So that the government issued some strict directives to contain the virus. The Cabinet Division on Monday issued the directives that will remain in force until June 30.
According to the directives, all government and private offices and their employees under ‘red’ zone will be under general holidays. The Public Administration Ministry will take necessary steps in this regard.
The life and livelihood, movement of people in red, yellow and green zones under Bangladesh Risk Zone-Based Covid-19 Containments implementation Strategy guide, provided by Health authorities will be strictly controlled.
People are directed to maintain health issues strictly in their emergency outside work.
Bangladesh confirmed its first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
