UNB, Dhaka :Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday told Parliament that the memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would remain unfaded at the cores of crores of people’s hearts as his ideology cannot be erased. The Prime Minister came up with the remarks replying to a supplementary question from ruling party MP Vice-principal Abdus Shahid in the House during her scheduled question-answer session. Responding to anothersupplementary question from another treasury bench member Abdul Matin Khosru, the Leader of the House said one could kill a person, but his or her ideology could never be erased.”No one could erase Bangabandhu’s name and neither would be able to do so in the future….the place of Bangabandhu would remain in the hearts of the country’s people,” she said.Sheikh Hasina said after the assassination of Bangabandhu along with most of his family members on August 15,1975, evil efforts had been there to erase the name of Bangabandhu from the hearts of the country’s people as the common people were not allowed to know the real history until Awami League assumed power after long 21 years in 1996.Coming down heavily on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for observing her fake birthday on August 15 amid festivity through cutting cake, the Prime Minister said, “We’ve seen such perverted mentality only to encourage the killers and acknowledge killing.”But, she said, the people of Bangladesh can understand this and they have also denounced such act of cutting cake. She said it is the duty of all to uphold the ideology of Bangabandhu. “It’s our duty and we’re discharging it properly.” Hasina also said it was her firm belief that no one could stop the march of Bangladesh towards socioeconomic development.Answering to another supplementary question from independent MP M Rustom Ali Farazi, she said if any law is framed for properly observing the death anniversary of Bangabandhu, it could also be repealed with the passage of time and changeover of power.”But, the most important thing in this regard is the awareness of the country’s people. If people accept the truth and retain it, then obviously no one could ever erase the name of Bangabandhu from the history not only in Bangladesh, but also in the whole world,” she added.
