Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed in dists

Local unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front organizations observed the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner here on Sunday.
Marking the day, leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and party flags atop of the party office and garlanded the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders in the morning.
They brought out a rally that paraded some of the city streets before being ended at the party office premises at Kumarpara. Besides, they held a discussion meeting highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
City Unit President of Rajshahi AL AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and some other front-ranking leaders spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Homecoming Day observed at Rajshahi University through various programs. The university administration brought out a rally on the campus. They placed floral wreaths on the central Shaheed Minar marking the day.
VC Prof Mijanuddin, Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Registrar Prof Entajul Haque, Treasurer Prof Sayen Uddin, Students Welfare Director Prof Sadequl Arefin and other high officials and students were present at the programmes.
Besides, RU unit of Bangabandhu Parishad and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall also observed the day.
BSS from Netrakona adds: The historic Homecoming Day of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed here on Sunday.
Awami League and different socio-cultural and political organizations observed various programs on the occasion.
Netrakona district Awami League and it’s front organizations formally started the programme by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the district Awami League office and hoisting of national and party flag atop of the party office in the morning.
As part of the program, a discussion meeting on” The political life and ideals of Bangabandhu” was held at the party office here tonight under the auspices of the district AL.
Chaired by acting president of the district AL Motiur Rahman Khan, the meeting was addressed, among others, by the party’s senior leaders including former MP and general secretary of district AL Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, joint secretary and newly elected mayor of Netrakona Pourasabha Nazrul Islam Khan, organizing secretaries of district AL Prasanta Roy and Professor Bejon Sarker.
The speakers paid glowing tributes to the memories of Bangabandhu and prayed seeking divine blessings for peace and salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
They also made a clarion call to the people of all walks of life irrespective of cast, creed and religion to join their hands in nation building activities for building up the country as “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
BSS from Khulna reports: The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed on Sunday in a befitting manner in Khulna city.
On January 10 in 1972, Bangabandhu returned to the independent and sovereign Bangladesh after over nine and a half months’ captivity in a Pakistan jail.
Khulna city and district units of Awami League and its associate organizations observed the Homecoming Day with different programmes.
Marking the Day, leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and party flags atop the party office and placed floral wreaths at the sculpture of Bangabandhu on the Khulna Press Club premises.
Besides, they held a discussion meeting highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu along with his contribution to the nation’s War of Liberation.
Khulna district AL president Sheikh-Harun-ur Rashid chaired the meeting and some front-ranking leaders including general secretary of city AL Mizanur Rahman Mizan, MP, spoke on the occasion.
A Milad and doa mahfil was also held at the party office seeking blessings for the departed soul of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
