Bangabandhu’s birthday observed in missions abroad

The 96th birth day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2015 was observed on March 17 in Bangladesh missions abroad in a befitting manner.
Different programmes were organized to observe the birth day of the country’s founding father and the greatest Bengali of all times Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, according to separate messages received here yesterday.
Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam organized elaborate programmes including holding of discussion meeting to observe the day.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was present as the chief guest at the discussion with Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam Md. Shahab Ullah in the chair.
Paying tribute to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Menon said Bangabandhu was a leader of kindness and generous but uncompromising on attaining rights. He (Bangabandhu) was the unique symbol of the people of Bangladesh during the war of independence in 1971, he added.
“Bangabandhu always appeared before us not as a man but as a history. He was the unique leader of the world,” Menon said.
The minister highlighted different achievements of the government in various sectors especially in social development, health and education.
The High Commission of Bangladesh in Islamabad celebrated the 96th birth day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2015 at the Chancery premises.
The programmes of the day included general discussion, cutting of cake, poetry recitation on Bangbandhu and screening of a documentary film titled “Amader Bangabandhu”.
A large number of Bangldeshi community, officials and employees of the High Commission, their family members and children of different ages joined the programmes began with reading out the messages from the President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali.
Various programmes were organized at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, India to mark the day. The day’s programmes began with placing of floral wreaths at the statue of Bangabandhu at ‘Bekar Hostel’ of the then Islamia College in Kolkata yesterday.
Deputy High Commissioner Joki Hossain on behalf of the mission placed the wreaths to pay homage to the memory of the country’s founding father.
Chairman of Pachimbanga Left Front Biman Basu, CPM member of Indian state of West Begal Robin Dev also paid homage of Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the statue.
The mission also arranged children’s art and essay competition on the life of the country’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the message said.
