Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal on Friday celebrated the 98th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day with due dignity and festivity.
The day’s programme began by placing of floral wreaths in front of the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Chancery.
Ambassador, officials and staff of the mission, representatives of the SAARC Secretariat, Bangladesh Biman officials, members of the expatriate Bangladesh community living in Kathmandu and children from various local schools were present.
Later, a doa mahfil was held for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and for his martyred family members as well as the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the glorious War of Liberation in 1971.
They also sought for a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh.
This was followed by reading out of the messages of President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam.
A discussion was also held where discussants highlighted the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
