Various programs are going on in Chattogram on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day. In public and private offices and buildings, national flag has been hoisted. After the sunrise on Wednesday at the initiative of the Chittagong district administration, the district Shilpakala Academy paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu with 31 rounds of artillery fire.
After that, floral tributes were paid by various political, social and socio-cultural organizations. A discussion meeting and cultural program were inaugurated at Shilpakala Academy at 9 am by releasing pigeons and festoons to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth centenary.
The program also includes competitions on essays on Bangabandhu’s biography and speeches on March 7 with secondary school students, drawing at the District Academy of Art and Children, handwriting, dance and song competitions on Bangabandhu, prize distribution, doa mahfils and prayers.
The Chittagong Regional Information Office, PID and District Information Office are displaying various books and pictures on Bangabandhu at the District Shilpakala Academy till 6 pm. Besides, lighting works and fireworks will be displayed at MA Aziz Stadium from 7 pm. Inspired by the ideals of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh is close to building the golden Bangladesh of dreams. Bangabandhu is the name of inspiration in crisis and struggle.
Despite hundreds of conspiracies, Bangabandhu will remain forever awake in the hearts of the people.

Tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was paid on the Board premises at 9 am. At the end of the meeting, prizes were distributed to the winners of the cultural program and painting competition. Meanwhile, City corporation Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury laid a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in the Tigerpass Nagar Bhaban office at 8:30 am yesterday on the initiative of Chittagong City Corporation.
Free medical services are provided at the health centers of each ward from 9 am.Meanwhile City Awami league unit has organised discussion meeting and rally at Shahid Minar square duly attended by City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, former Mayor Nasiruddin, city AL President Mahtabuddin Chowdhury, central leaders of the party. Doa mahfil was arranged at Kadam Mobarak mosque in the afternoon where rich foods were distributed among the orphans and distressed.
Discussion meetings and cultural programs were organized on the gymnasium premises of MA Aziz Stadium at 10 am by the district authority.
Food was distributed among the orphans and the destitute at 1 pm. At the initiative of the metropolitan Awami League, a children’s rally, discussion meeting and rally were organized on the central Shaheed Minar premises at 10 am, district admn sources said.
