City Desk :
Vice-Chancellor of Kurigram Agricultural University (KAU) Professor Dr. A. K. M. Zakir Hossain has said Bangabandhu is the best chapter of our national life and all of us should have to admit the fact.
“Bangabandhu has given a clear and realistic state philosophy and greatness to the people of Bangladesh and a secular state and a nation with language and culture. The name of that nation is Bengali nation,” he said.
Professor Hossain said this at a discussion marking the National Mourning Day-2022 and 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kurigram on Monday afternoon.
Rangpur units of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) and Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad (BKP) organized the discussion and a milad mehfil at the conference room of On-Farm Research Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Rangpur.
The V C said, “When August 15 comes, we repeat these discussions to inform the true national history to the new generation. Such discussions are very important for future generations.”
For long 21years, it was not allowed to bring Bangabandhu to discussions on the soil of Bangladesh. Rather, the national history was distorted. That is why such discussions need to be repeated, reports BSS.
He said, “Why was Bangabandhu assassinated? What was wrong with Bangabandhu? Bangabandhu spent 14 years in jail for the people of the country from 1947 to 71, sacrificing his life and youth for the people of Bengal.”
“The detectives told Bangabandhu to go safely, but Bangabandhu said, “The nation for which I have been suffering all the years can never kill me”. But some unruly military officials of this country killed him in a well-planned way,” Professor Hossain said.
Presided over by President of Rangpur district unit of BKP Agriculturist Ali Azam, General Manager of Sonali Bank Limited Agriculturist Rashidul Islam, Regional Seed Certification Officer Agriculturist Rafiqul Islam, Director of the Directorate of Livestock Dr. Abdul Hye Sarkar, District Fisheries Officer Badruzzaman Manik, District Livestock Officer Sirajul Islam, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Agriculturist Mahbubur Rahman, among others, addressed the discussion.

Ali Azam urged the new generation to study on various books related to Bangabandhu more and more to know the different philosophies of Bangabandhu.

General Secretary of Rangpur units of KIB and BKP Agriculturist Abu Sayem delivered the welcome address at the beginning of the programme.

Abu Sayem said, two people have given a dream to the Bengali nation. One is Bangabandhu, who gave the dream of independent Bangladesh and economic liberation.
“Although Bangabandhu was able to gift the independent Bangladesh, he could not give economic freedom as a result of brutal killings of Bangabandhu and most of his family members on August 15, 1975,” he said.

Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter Sheikh Hasina is the second person who has once again shown the Bengali nation to dream of economic liberation.

“Sheikh Hasina has already transformed Bangladesh into a developing nation on the way to take the country to the ranks of developed countries through successful implementation of Vision 2041,” Sayem added.

Earlier, a special munajat were offered in the milad mehfil seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and most of his family members assassinated on August 15, 1975.

Agriculturists Ahsan Habib Liberty and Mallika Rani moderated the programme with participation of over 150 agriculturists.
