Bangabandhu Federation Cup Basketball Tournament starts tomorrow at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium in the city. The Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) will arrange the basketball competition. BBF will bear all the expenditure of the meet from its own fund.
President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation and President of Bangladesh Medical Association Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin will formally open the competition as the chief guest.
A number of eight teams will participate in the basketball meet. The basketball competition will be held to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The eight teams are: Bangladesh Army, Dhumketu Club, Bangladesh Air Force, Bokshibazar Club, Bangladesh Police, The Greg’s Club, Josephites Club and Flame Boys Club.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarkar said to the newsmen, ” The competition will be held after maintaining the government’s health protocol.”
He said they have a plan to organise more competitions to celebrate ‘Mujib Borsho’ and they want to finish all those competitions by December.
After ending the Federation Cup, the BBF will stage National Basketball Championship, First Division Basketball League, Second Division Basketball League and Premier Division Basketball League.
