Bangabandhu dreamt of non-communal Bangladesh : CU VC

Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University (CU) Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury on Monday said that the architect of independent Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman throughout his life dreamt Bangladesh as a non-communal, democratic, independent, sovereign, happy and prosperous country in the world.
“Bangabandhu is eternal in the hearts of teeming millions of Bangalees”, the CU VC commented.
He came up with the tributes while addressing as the chief guest at a discussion on the occasion of National Mourning day.
CU Chapter of Bangabandhu Parishad organized the discussion at Social Science Faculty auditorium this morning.
Addressing the meeting as special guest, CU Pro-VC said the father of nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is to be remembered everyday as the philosophy of this great leader is a beacon for each and every Bangalee.
Presided over by the Parishad president Prof Dr Arun Kumar Deb, the meeting was addressed, among others, by General Secretary Rashed Bin Amin, member of Awami League advisory committee Prof Hamida Banu, Parishad member Prof Dr Gazi Saleh Uddin, Prof Dr Mohammad Sekandar Chowdhury, Prof Dr Abul Hossain, Prof Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin and Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Huda.
BCL activists beat student at CU suspecting Shibir : Bangladesh Chhatra League activists of Chittagong University unit beat up a student suspecting him of being an Islami Chhatra Shibir man on the campus on Monday.
Omar Faruq, a third year student of Bangla of the university, who was given primary treatment at CU medical centre, said he was attacked by 20 to 30 BCL men while he along with his friends was gossiping before the Shaheed Minar.
 “They dragged me in front of the arts and humanities faculty and started beating again,” he added.
 “I do not know why I was attacked. I am not involved in Shibir politics,” said Omar, adding that police, later, rescued him.
