The Bangabandhu 1st National District Club Rugby Competition begins today at the Paltan Maidan.
Marking the upcoming rugby competition, a press conference was held at the conference room in the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday. President of Bangladesh Rugby Union (BRU) Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP, Vice-President of BRU Iftekar Ali, General Secretary of BRU Mousum Ali, Joint-Secretary of BRU Sayeed Ahmed, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Monirul Haque were present, among others at the conference.
A total of 11 district clubs splitting into four groups will take part in the two-day long rugby competition. Top one team from each group will play in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will play in the final. The winning team of the final will be the champions of the rugby tournament.
Former noted footballer Sheikh Md Aslam will formally open the meet today as the chief guest.
