Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen inaugurated the Bangabandhu corner at his ministry here on the eve of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The corner was set up on Monday at the ground floor of the ministry’s main building decorated by different books and documents of the country’s founding father related to diplomacy.
The corner will preserve all documents about Bangabandhu and foreign relations of the country that included pictures and information of all meetings held between Bangabandhu and foreign leaders across the world.
At the corner, a portrait of Bangabandhu made by aluminum composite panel
was installed while national anthem was written in Bangla and English at two walls.
A documentary related to Bangabandhu and the Bangladesh independence movement will be screened at a LED monitor while books on Bangabandhu written
in different languages are kept at the corner so that foreign diplomats can
know about the founding father of the country.
After inaugurating the corner along with State Minister for Foreign Affairs
Md Shahriar Alam, Momen said he directed to all 77 Bangladesh missions in
abroad to set up Bangabandhu corner at their respective premises so that
foreigners and expatriate Bangladeshis can know about the principles of
Bangabandhu.
He said the foreign ministry would like to spread Bangabandhu’s love
towards suppressed people and his struggle to establish justice and fairness
across the world.
About Bangabandhu’s farsighted vision over diplomacy and international
affairs, Momen said the country’s cardinal foreign policy- friendship to
all, malice towards none- was established by Bangabandhu.
The Foreign Minister said Dhaka wants to brand image of economically
emerging Bangladesh anew across the world by celebrating “Mujib Year”.
