Minister Group Dhaka recorded an easy 50-run victory over Comilla Victorians in their match of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.
Put into bat first, Minister Group Dhaka piled up a massive total of 181 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then shot out Comilla Victorians for 131 off 17.3 overs.
Minister Group Dhaka had a sorrow start as opener Mohammad Shahzad (6) was trapped leg before wicket by Mustafizur Rahman when Dhaka’s score was just seven.
After Shahzad’s dismissal, Tamim Iqbal and Imran Uzzaman contributed together 48 runs for the second wicket partnership before Imran (15) was bowled out by Karim Janat when Dhaka’s total was 55 for the loss of two wickets.
After Imran’s removal, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad contributed together 30 runs in the third wicket stand before Tamim was caught at the short midwicket by Karim Janat off Tanvir Islam when Dhaka’s score was 85 for the loss of three wickets.
Tamim hit a polished 46. His 35-ball innings was studded with three sixes and two fours.
Later, Mahmudullah and Mohammad Naim added together 30 runs in the six-wicket stand before Naim (10) was run out by Liton Das when Dhaka’s total was 160 for the loss of six wickets.
Mahmudullah remained unbeaten with 70. His 41-ball marvelous innings was ornamented with four sixes and three fours. Mahmudullah was adjudged the Man of the Match. Mahmudullah scored 5000 runs in T20 Cricket. He also scored 2000 runs in BPL Cricket. Yesterday he played his career best innings in BPL Cricket.
Tanvir Islam of Comilla was his team’s most successful bowler with two wickets for 36 runs.
Later, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Imrul Kayes of Comilla Victorians built their only notable partnership. They put on together 70 runs in the third wicket stand before Imrul Kayes was bowled out by Andre Russell when Comilla’s total was 82 for the loss of three wickets.
Imrul Kayes scored 28 from 23 balls featuring two fours and a sixer.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy made his team’s highest of 46 runs. He hit eight fours in his 30-ball knock before he was bowled out by Andre Russell when Comilla’s score was 85 for the loss of four wickets.
Andre Russell grabbed three wickets in the space of 17 runs, while Ebadot Hossain, Qais Ahmed bagged two wickets each giving 21 and 27 runs respectively.
Rubel Hossain took one wicket for five runs.
