The national phase matches of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Football tournament 2017 and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Primary School Football tournament 2017 begin here today (Monday).
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman is expected to inaugurate the national phase matches of the two tournaments as the chief guest at Dhaka University Central Playground.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Secretary Asif-Uz-Zaman will preside over the opening ceremony.
The final phase matches of the tournaments will continue till March 25 and the final matches of the tournaments are slated on March 28 at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be present in the finals of the tournament as the chief guest and distribute the trophies.
Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament began its journey in 2010 to pay tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and in its continuation, Bangamata Gold Cup was introduced in 2011.
The two tournaments are held at union, upazila, district and divisional phases and the tournaments finally conclude in the national phase through final matches.
This year, a total of 10,99,696 boys students represented to 64,688 schools in Bagabandhu Gold Cup, while 10,99,611 girls students represented to 64,683 schools in Bangamata Gold Cup.
