The final round of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament and Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament began at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on Wednesday.
Minister for Primary and Mass Education freedom fighter Mostafizur Rahman inaugurated the final phase of the tournaments for the boys and girls as the chief guest by releasing the balloons.
Later, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on the same day. Minister for Primary and Mass Education Mostafizur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Salahuddin, Vice-President of BFF and Chairman of the Development Committee of BFF Badal Roy, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Mohammad Asif-Uz-Zaman, General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag were present at the conference.
Seven boys’ schools from seven divisions and seven girls’ schools from seven divisions are taking part in the final round of the respective tournaments.
Mostafizur Rahman said, ” A total of 64, 260 boys’ schools took part in the qualifying round of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament, while 64, 196 girls’ schools participated in the qualifying round of the Bangamata Begum Faziltaunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament.”
He said, ” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest after the final matches at the BNS on March 2.”
Kazi Salahuddin said, ” We have started our journey. Bangladesh National Women’s Under-16 Football team and Bangladesh Under-14 Boys’ Football team have been formed from the selected players of the respective tournaments.”
It may be mentioned that Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has arranged the football competitions for boys and girls with the cooperation of Bangladesh Football Federation.
This is the seventh edition of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament and this is the sixth edition of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament.
