Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone Volleyball Championship starts today at the Shaheed Suhrawrdi Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur. Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) has organized the mega volleyball meet.
Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP, will inaugurate the gala extravaganza as the chief guest.
A total of six teams dividing into two groups are taking part in the volleyball meet. Hosts Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal are in Group-A, while Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan are in Group-B.
The champions of the Group-A will meet the runners-up of the Group-B in the first semi-final, while the champions of the Group-B will take on the runners-up of the Group-A in the second semi-final on April 25.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on April 27.
The champions will be awarded $ 3,000, while the runners-up will be given $ 2,000 and the third-place finishers will get $ 1,000.
