Local administrations have decided to impose temporary restriction on tourists in popular destination of Bandarban due to the upcoming general election.
The foreigners shall not be allowed in Bandarban from December 20 for 16 days.
Md Daudul Islam,
Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban, told The New Nation that the decision has been taken to avoid “any untoward incident”.
“We want to advise foreigners not to visit Bandarban as our law enforcement agencies will be busy with election duty,” he said.
Md Sirajul Islam, Secretary of Local Residential Hotel Owners’ Association, told the journalists that this is the peak season for the tourists in the district.
“Such a decision without any discussion will surely affect the tourism business,” he said
