The district administration has imposed a ban for an indefinite period on the catching of fish from Kaptai Lake in Kaptai upazila.
The ban aimed at saving different fish spices in the lake ahead of their breeding season will be effective from Thursday midnight and remain in force until further notice.
Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati district Samshul Arefin ordered the ban on Wednesday, said a press release issued by Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC).
The restriction, also on transportation and marketing of fish, will cover the total 556 squire kilometer area of the lake.
