The administration has banned public meetings at various tourist spots in Sunamganj due to coronavirus. Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Ahad confirmed the matter on Wednesday night.
Sunamganj is also known as Haor-Baor and Baul song area. Thousands of tourists come to Sunamganj every day to see the Tanguar haor or the transparent water of the zadukata river, or the Barektila, Shimul garden or shaheed Siraj Lake on the border.
The administration has recently banned all schools and colleges in the country.The ban has been given to the administration not to increase the number of tourists.
In this regard, District administrator Mohammad Abdul Ahad said that restrictions have been imposed on large gatherings. We are discouraging everyone from traveling as per government directives.
At the same time, he urged all to follow the instructions to prevent coronavirus.
Sylhet Bureau adds: All tourist centers in Sylhet have been banned from the tourist community as a precaution due to coronavirus. The ban has been issued since Wednesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (overall) Mohammad Abul Kalam confirmed Sylhetview on the ban.
“We have instructed all the Upazila Executive Officers (UNO) to ensure that people do not attend the tourist centers,” he said.
Sylhet is famous for tourism. There are several interesting tourist destinations including Jaflong, Lalakhal, Pangthumai, Lobachahara, Uthmachhara, Bichanakandi, Sadapathar. Every day, hundreds of tourists visit these centers. As a result, there was a fear among the tourists about the spread of coronavirus among the tourists.
Number of home quarantined doubled: Two admitted in hospitals

Number of home quarantined persons almost doubled in Barishal division within last 24-hour on Wednesday.
Dr. Basudev Das, Barishal divisional director of health directorate, disclosing told that figure of home quarantine reached to 194 till this report on Wednesday, which was only 90 on Tuesday.
Besides one admitted at corona isolation unit of Barishal SBMCH and another one at Barguna general hospital, but they yet not detected as corona infected.
We are monitoring and going to take hard step against breaking home quarantine system and started counseling and monitoring their status, he added.
The divisional committee for monitoring Corona virus situation at Barishal Divisional Commissioner’s office held on Wednesday noon presided over by Yamin Chowdhury, divisional commissioner.
In that meeting it was decided that hard step about observing properly or violating the home quarantine system by the suspected people would be taken by developing counseling and keen monitoring with the help of local government , administration and law enforcing agencies, divisional health director added.
He said that they facing acute shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) from government supply.
In Barishal Sher-E-Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) one suspected corona infected patient aged about 25 referred from Bhola admitted at corona isolation unit (CIU) of the hospital on Tuesday night.
Dr. Bakir Hossain, director SBMCH, said the admitted person was a truck helper working in Chattogram and was suffering from fever with cold allergy and hiding at his native home in Bhola. We informed IEDCR about the patient and they are going to initiate diagnosis.
We already received 700 PPE and doctors and nurses started to use that, he added.
After visiting this ward it was found two of relatives of the suspected patient have been seen in close contact with the patient.
