The government has imposed a ban on catching, transporting and hoarding of Hilsa fish from October 5 to 15th instant across the country to boost its production.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sayedul Haque told it to the reporters after an inter-ministerial meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
He said that the decision was taken in a bid to boost Hilsa production through the protection of the mother fish.
“Legal action will be taken against the violators of the order,” said the Minister.
