The massive security measures have been taken around Imambara Husaini Dalan on the occasion of the Holy Ashura on Sunday commemorating martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The all Tajia processions will remain under close circuit cameras and none can join the march without checking by the law enforcer as part of security surveillance.
Police banned carrying of lethal weapons like metal weapons, knife, sword and other sharp weapons during Tajia procession. The height of procession flags has been limited to 12 feet.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia said these after inspecting the security arrangements at Imambara Husaini Dalan in Old Dhaka on Thursday morning.
Everyone will be allowed to enter Husaini Dalan compound only after security screening through hand metal detectors and archways on Ashura, the DMP Commissioner said.
Besides, police will be deployed on the rooftops of some buildings at some major points of Imambara for security reason, he said.
The special security will be enforced at Imambara, Mohammapur and Kalshi where the members of the Shia Muslims will gather to observe the day.
The DMP Commissioner also requested people to cooperate with the police and volunteer groups to make the procession a success.
Dog squad, bomb disposal units, SWAT members, fire service and divers will remain standby so that they can act instantly, if needed, said Asaduzzaman.
Meanwhile, on Moharram 9, the timing of the procession that will start from Hosaini Dalan and end at Dhanmondi Lake has been changed from 2:00am to 9:00am, and on 10th Moharram, the procession will start at 10:00am instead of 4:00am, said Hosaini Dalan authorities.
After the bomb blast at Hosaini Dalan on the day of Ashura in 2015 that killed two persons, timings of the big processions have been changed.
Another big procession, which starts from Bibir Rouza in Shyambazar, will begin at 2:00pm, two hours earlier than the customary time.
In a query, the DMP boss said, the processions will be cordoned off by police officials and no one can join from the middle points, he added.
