Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on carrying firearms, explosives and other harmful objects as well as holding any kind of rally and procession around Sangsad Bhaban to ensure smooth functioning of the 5th session of the 10th parliament.
The 5th session of the current parliament will begin at 4pm on Monday.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia slapped the restriction under the section 28 and 29 of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance 1976 for ensuring ‘peace and discipline’ in and around Sangsad Bhaban so that the 5th
finalize the duration of the fifth session at its meeting on Monday afternoon. Official source of Parliament Secretariat told BSS that so far two bills were submitted for the fifth session. Besides, there are six pending bills for the session in the secretariat.
The fourth JS session that commenced November 13 was prorogued on November 30.A total of seven bills out of 10 were passed during the 10 working days of the fourth session. In that session the House adopted a thanks giving motion under rule 147 as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received South South Co-Operation Visionary Award. Besides, thanks giving motions were also adopted after Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury and Saber Hossain, MP, elected as CPA Chairperson and IPU President respectively.
