BSS, Dhaka :
A ban was imposed for 65 days from today on fishing crustaceans, any creature with a soft body that is divided into sections and a hard outer-shell, in the marine economical zones.
“The ban, which was imposed today for two months and five days, will be enforced till July 23. No fishing trawlers or fishing boats will be allowed to catch crustaceans during the period,” assistant director of Directorate of Fisheries Masum-Ara-Moni told BSS here today.
“Action will be taken against the violators of the ban under Marine Fisheries Ordinance, 1983,” she added.
The government took the decision, for the first time, aimed at ensuring smooth breeding of crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimp, and other crustacean species to boost their production and preserving maritime fish resources, she pointed out.
