Bamboos with iron rods used to construct building in Bandarban

Allegation has been found that bamboos instead of iron rods were being used to construct a building of Bandarban Government Mahila College at Balaghata area of the district.
While visiting the area recently, it was found that to construct around 150 feet long drop-wall on the extension of the second floor of the college building, bamboos were being used along with iron rods. At that time, the working labourers got perplexed after seeing the journalists.
While asked why bamboos were being used instead of iron rods to construct the drop-wall, chief labourer Md Ali Hossen said, “The contractor has advised us to use bamboos. As a result, the structure will be strong.”
But, after sometimes, the labourers started to remove the bamboos with haste.
While asked in this connection, the concerned contractor Ujjal Kanti Das and his nephew Taposh Chowdhury said, “We do not know that bamboos were being used instead of rods. The labourers have done this without informing us. After knowing the matter, the bamboos were removed.”
Principal of Bandarban Government Mahila College Prodeep Barua said, “After getting the complaint, I contacted with Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) to stop the work.
