Balloon blast: Police file case against three persons

The police have registered a case against three balloon suppliers in connection with the explosion of gas balloons at the fourth anniversary of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police. Last Saturday night, Deputy Inspector of Gazipur Sadar Police Station Mosabbir Hossain filed the case as the plaintiff.
Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter on Monday.
The accused are identified as Md. Kibria, Md. Babul and Manik Mia. However, the statement of the case does not mention the details of the accused.
According to the statement of the case, on Friday (September 16) afternoon, the Home
Minister and invited guests were present at the ceremony organised on the occasion of the fourth foundation anniversary of Gazipur Metropolitan Police. The guests flew pigeons and balloons to the main event stage.
Meanwhile, the eggplants did not fly and fell in front of the in-service training centre located inside the police lines. Later, when comedian Abu Hena Roni, who was standing there, went to fly the balloons again, they suddenly exploded. Five people including Roni and the police were injured.
At present Abu Hena Rony, 32, suffered 25 per cent burns on his two hands, ears and face has been kept in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
