World Diabetes Day observed: Balanced food, disciplined life to prevent diabetes stressed

Kishoreganj Diabetic Samity arranged a discussion, rally, documentary film, pestering marking the World Diabetes Day.
A discussion organised by Diabetic Hospital was held at its auditorium in the town on Saturday morning.
Deputy Commssioner GSM Zafarullah was the chief guest of the discussion with Samity General Secretary Md. Shafiqul Islam in the chair.
It was addressed among others by Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, Shamsunnaher Habib, Alamgir Kabir, Advocate Lutfur Rashid Rana, Dr. Shusil Kumer Shil and Women Leader Bilkis Begum.
Living a healthy and moral life is possible by controlling their disease , speakers added.
A colourfull rally was brought out in the town led by D.C Zafarullah.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The diabetic patients can really dream of living long through taking balanced food, conducting regular physical exercise, maintaining disciplined life for preventing the silent killer disease diabetes.
Endocrinologists and diabetic experts made the opinion at a post- walkathon discussion arranged by Rangpur Diabetic Samity (RDS) at its office premises here in observance of the World Diabetes Day-2015 on Saturday.
The RDS in association with the district administration chalked out day-long programmes like bringing out of a colourful walkathon, arranging free diabetic tests and discussion in observance of the day.
Hundreds of people, including officials, physicians, educationists, students, business community leaders, socio-cultural and professional activists, civil society members and elite participated in the walkathon that paraded the city streets.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Kazi Hassan Ahmed attended the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner and President of RDS Rahat Anwar in the chair.
Moderated by former FBCCI Vice-president and General Secretary of RDS Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, noted educationist Professor Dr Rezaul Haq, Rangpur Chamber President Abul Kashem, physicians, addressed the discussion, among others.
Head of the Department of Endocrinology of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) Professor Dr Abu Laik Ahmed Khan delivered the keynote presentation as the main discussant.
He narrated on the present national and global scenario of the spread of diabetes and forwarded the way outs so that the diabetes patients could lead more disciplined, normal and longer life.
He said that most of the people are still not aware of the risks of the silent killer disease of diabetes which gradually destroys the immune system of human body silently leading towards death ultimately.
Taking part in the discussion, the speakers put importance on launching comprehensive social campaign for creating mass public awareness about the disease and helping the diabetic patients in leading normal life through changed habits.
