Baitul Mukarram Khatib Salahuddin dies

Professor Maulana Muhammad Salahuddin, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, died. He breathed his last at Labaid Hospital in the capital at around 5:30 pm on Thursday.
Professor Maulana Muhammad Salahuddin’s brother-in-law Habibur Rahman informed this. “Maulana Salahuddin had been suffering from various diseases due to old age complications for a long time. A ring was placed on his heart.”
The Ministry of Religious Affairs appointed Maulana Salahuddin as the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on January 1, 2009.
Born in 1944 at Hazradi village of Kalagachia UP of Bandar Thana in Narayanganj, Maulana Muhammad Salahuddin was moved to Kalabagh villag of Bandar UP in 1966.
In 1964, Salahuddin got first place in the first class in Kamil from the East Pakistan Madrasa Board and earned first place in the first class in Adab and Adab Kamil in 1965 from the same board respectively.
In 1977, Salahuddin passed MA in first class from Dhaka University. He was admitted to the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia for higher studies and in 1984, he got first place in the first class from Arabic Diploma from the Islamic University of Madinah.
He has been the Chairman of Shariah Council of Exim Bank, Prime Bank, ICB Bank, South East Bank, Jamuna Bank. He was also a member of Dhaka Bank, City Bank Shariah Council and Islami Bank Central Shariah Board.
Maulana Muhammad Salahuddin also served as the Chairman of Sharia Council of Sandhani Life Insurance Islami Takaful. He was a member of the steering committee of Dhaka City College and Kakoli High School and chairman of the steering committee of Sreepur Bagnahati Kamil Madrasa.
